Sharon Johnson, founder of Grace & Grins, has over 10 years of professional puppetry experience. Her credits include working with former puppet organization, Kids on the Block-Rochester, writing and performing original puppet shows, and hosting puppet-making workshops.
Grace & Grins brings giggles and delight to children with our main character, Grace and her friends, Eddy & Josie.
Grace & Grins uses the puppetry style of Bunraku, a traditional Japanese puppet theatre art form that means “you can see”.
The puppeteer camouflages with the black background and seemingly disappears as the audience engages with the puppets even though they can technically “see” the puppeteer the entire time!
“Kind Heart”
In our show “Kind Heart”, Grace, Josie and Eddy discover how sharing kindness with others also helps yourself. They learn about how actions speak louder than words and how to be a good friend.
“Healthy Habits”
Kids learn about how healthy habits make a difference in their everyday life, not only for themselves, but for everyone around them. The perfect show for children to learn daily, healthy habits like washing your hands, eating healthy foods, brushing your teeth, and more!
“Noggin Safety”
Grace is excited to get a brand-new bike! She also knows how important it is to protect our brains and is excited to share how we can all do that. In “Noggin’ Safety”, audience members learn about helmet & bike safety, including how to properly fit a helmet.
“Oceans of Possibilities” is coming soon! Library systems around the country picked this as a summer reading program theme and I am developing a script and making puppets for this new show.
