We had long-time board member and friend Ray Martinez of Ray Mar Productions from Goodyear, Arizona as a board member. Unfortunately Covid came and took our beloved board member away in 2020. We wanted to honor his memory with some kind words from our board members in this in memoriam blog post. You can view a separate post made from President Carol Keslar and Ray Mar’s protege David Hanscom who joined the board after his passing as well as visit his many articles he wrote for the blog.

Greg Curran is a well known DJ on the East Coast.

DJ Greggie C from Curran Entertainment:

“I did not know Ray for that long… a couple of years but the moment I met Ray, I knew there was something special about him. Besides being friendly he was also very charismatic. I instantly gravitated toward him and loved chatting with him. We seemed to share a lot of the same passions and I was impressed that God played a big role in his life. It always seemed to me that he always had a smile on his face and he loved what he did in life. I will miss Ray and will always remember him. Rest in peace!”

Dennis Kintzer from DM Kintzer Productions:

“RayMar and I go back about 15 years or so and for as long as I can remember. He was a genuine and good person. From our trips to Anaheim together, to Vegas, to Atlantic City, I always looked forward to spending time with him. He was not only a positive guy, but so knowledgeable and willing to help anyone who asked, when it came to the industry or in life.

I will never forget spending time talking with him regarding the loss of his son, and how appreciative he was that I would take the time to truly hear him, and allow him to express his deepest feelings on his loss. Ray Mar was so humble and that was one of his most endearing traits. Lastly, I always appreciated his love and respect for the military and veterans. He never missed a chance to say “Thank You!” to a vet and would always be sure to say so to me on Veteran’s Day. I will always miss his humor and self deprecating jokes and a few directed right at me as well, during our conference calls. May you rest in peace, and may all those already waiting for your arrival in heaven, party with the best for the rest of eternity.”

Matt Peterson from Northampton, MA.

Matt Peterson from Peterson Productions Disc Jockeys:

“In his first book “Performance Beyond Expectation”, Ray Mar uses a quote from Oprah Winfrey that suggests to “Surround yourself with only people who are going to lift you higher”.

I, like most of you, met DJ Ray Martinez (Ray Mar) during a DJ conference. I had been invited to accompany Bruce Keslar (NAME’s founder) and a few select other VIP’s in attending a DJ industry leaders meeting. It was here that I was first introduced to Ray Mar. As I sat between him and Bruce discussing the current trends and state of DJing along with the other Hall of Fame DJs.

The next day, I attended Ray Mar’s seminar, and I was immediately blown away and personally inspired by his endless stories, passion, overall dedication, integrity, honor, genuine respect, and relentless love of the entertainment industry. Over the course of the next 20 years, I have had the honor to watch Ray Mar continually move forward with his inherent abilities to willingly teach others about his good words, his endless work, personal beliefs and positive attitude.

I was fortunate enough to call Ray a trusted friend, a traveling companion, a larger than life sports enthusiast, roommate, colleague, mentor, a fellow NAME advisory board member, Hall of Fame Disc Jockey and industry leader. He was a true scholar of life, an avid writer of wisdom. A true gentleman, and a gentle giant. He was like a father figure to me and I will always remember him as family.

Thank you for all the glorious memories, time and emotional support that you graciously provided to us, while you actively encouraged us to achieve a higher level of greatness. You may be gone, but you will not be forgotten. Rest in peace, Ray Mar. We love you.”

Ray Martinez, you will be missed on the board and as a friend.
