Q: Please state your name, home location, title and how you are involved with NAME Entertainers?
A: My name is Carol Keslar from Philadelphia, Pa. and I am the president of National Association of Mobile Entertainers and owner of ProMobileDj.com. My main goal is to make sure N.A.M.E maintains happy and satisfied members by offering our excellent customer service, which we have been providing to our members for over 20 years!
Q: Where did you grow up and what did you want to be when you grew up?
A: I grew up in Philadelphia, Pa. I worked in the corporate world for over 20 years where I believed I was going to retire.
Q: How did you end up running an insurance company for entertainers?
A: Unexpectedly my husband, Bruce, passed away and I vowed to proudly proceed with his vision and passion in offering discount services including insurance to many types of entertainers within the music industry.
Q: What is the best part of the job?
A: The most rewarding part of my job is having the capability to conquer every day challenges, maintain a friendly, professional staff, talking to our members on a daily basis either by phone or email and attending trade shows.
Q: Why is it so important for freelance entertainers and venues to have insurance?
A: Just like your mandatory car insurance, homeowners insurance (if you own your home) and health insurance… ask yourself, why is it beneficial to have these coverages? To protect yourself, family and company from unexpected accidents. For a low premium offered by NAME/Brown & Brown, we were able to put together a group policy that entitles our members to discount insurance rates. For example, while you are performing, if a speaker falls and injures someone or several people dancing… are you covered? If someone trips over a wire your equipment is attached to… are you covered? What if your equipment is stolen? As many of you know, when you book a gig, the first thing the vendor will want to see is proof of coverage stating you are insured – which will protect the venue, as well as yourself, family and business. Why take the risk at such a low cost? Weigh the options yourself.
Q: If you could go anywhere in the world, where would you go and why?
A: Hawaii, I’ve never been there. I would go for leisure time and experience their culture and surroundings.
